The initiative has been promoted by Unitre in collaboration with the Municipality of Sondrio and the Civic Museums
Sustainability in contemporary art, the relationship between artistic production, the environment, society and new cultural models are the focus of the conference that will be led by expert in art economics and applied sustainability within the cultural system, Marco Eugenio Di Giandomenico, on Wednesday 7 October at 3.30 pm at Unitre. Titled “Sustainable Contemporary Art”, the event is promoted by Unitre, in collaboration with the Municipality of Sondrio and the Civic Museums, as part of its cultural activities for local residents and to help promote knowledge of contemporary art. The conference will be introduced by the President of Unitre Sondrio, Mario Erba, and the Councillor for Culture, Education and Education, Marcella Fratta.
Di Giandomenico will guide the audience through an in-depth look at the changes currently reshaping the world of contemporary art, and at the possible outlooks for a sector that is increasingly attentive to environmental, social and economic dimensions. A particularly timely topic, which encourages people to reflect not only on the ways art is produced and presented, but also on the role that museums, cultural institutions and artists can play in building greater awareness of sustainability issues. “We’re grateful to Marco Eugenio Di Giandomenico for having taken up our invitation for a conference on a crucial subject that brings together artistic expression and sustainability,” says Councillor Fratta. “As a local council, we care deeply about these themes, which we also promote through Sondrio Festival, our involvement with the ‘Città Alpina dell’anno’ association, and sustainable choices across different areas of the city’s life. We’ve worked with Unitre on other occasions too—Unitre gives our residents plenty of opportunities to meet, feeding the mind and creating wellbeing.” The initiative is also an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between Unitre, the Municipality of Sondrio and the Civic Museums, by putting forward opportunities for discussion and deeper understanding that bring different audiences closer to the themes of culture and art.
The event, which will take place at Unitre Sondrio at Via Cesare Battisti 29, is open to the public.
