More than 150 people took part on Sunday 25 October in the Camminata in Rosa, organised every year by the Amazzoni association, with the collaboration of APT Sondalo, along the Sentiero Valtellina route, from Sondalo to Lovero, to bring the local area together through the shared values of prevention, health and solidarity.
A day of movement, sharing and awareness-raising, open to everyone and designed to involve people of all ages. A non-competitive walk, with an accessible route and several stops along the way, allowed participants to experience a day focused on wellbeing and community spirit, while supporting an important message: prevention is a responsibility that concerns everyone.
The walk began in Sondalo, at the Cittadella dello Sport, after breakfast at Bar Palaport, provided by AVIS Sondalo and APT Sondalo. Next came the official greetings and the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, which officially kicked off the event. In attendance were the president of the Amazzoni, Giuseppina Osmetti, the local councillor for the Municipality of Sondalo, Luca Della Valle, the mayor of Tirano, Stefania Stoppani, Dr Giulio Rossi, head of the Sport Medicine unit at Ospedale Morelli in Sondalo, Viviana Besseghini, president of AVIS Sondalo, and Lory Scamozzi, president of AIDO Tirano.
After the start, the group reached Grosotto, the second stop on the route, where refreshments were served at Bar Prati di Punta. Here, participants from the Tirano Walking Group also joined the walk, accompanied by representative Alessandro Pennati, helping to further broaden participation and strengthen the spirit of collaboration between the different communities.
The walk then continued along the Sentiero Valtellina to Lovero, the third and final stage, where participants arrived at the Parco dell’Adda. After lunch, the day carried on with music by DJ Franco and a deeper-dive session focused on health and prevention, with an intervention by Dr Patrizia Franzini.
The initiative provided not only an opportunity to promote physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, but also an important meeting point bringing together institutions, associations, volunteers and citizens, all united by a common goal. The route linking Sondalo, Grosotto and Lovero gave substance to the value of working together, showing how shared participation can help spread greater awareness of health-related issues.
The president of Amazzoni ODV, Giuseppina Osmetti, was very pleased and wanted to emphasise above all the value of collaboration between the various groups involved: “Beyond the topic of prevention, which brought together several towns and communities, what filled our hearts was the synergy between the different local realities. Working together, united in the spirit of prevention, is our greatest strength. Heartfelt thanks to the many participants—true protagonists of the day—to the institutions, the associations that supported us, and to the volunteers. Every step taken today is a step towards a future that is more aware, more united and more supportive”.
The event was carried out with the patronage and collaboration of ATS della Montagna and the Municipalities of Sondalo, Grosotto, Lovero and Tirano, together with APT Sondalo, AVIS Sondalo, Gruppo Donatori Sangue Tirano, AIDO Gruppo Intercomunale Tirano, Associazione Nordic Walking Valtellina, Latteria Chiuro, and with the participation of Bar Palasport Sondalo, Bar Laghetto Grosotto and Bar Parco dell’Adda Lovero.
