It was supposed to take place at Castel Masegra in Sondrio, but, thanks to the rather "playful" weather during this period, it was moved to the Auditorium Torelli. I would say it was a perfect choice.
I sat down (not knowing what to expect) and the concert of the Quintetto Cabirria began. I didn't know them. I had never listened to chamber music live. I come from pop, rock, from playlists with “volume all the way up”.
Well... a world opened up for me.
And I walked out with chills. The real ones.
On stage, the Quintetto Cabiria: Matteo Salerno, Luciano Zadro, Stefano Nanni, Roberto Bartoli, and Gianluca Nanni.
Pure talent. They played soundtracks from films we all know: La dolce vita, Amarcord, Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, Giù la testa, Mission, Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo… I could go on.
Composed by Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone, two names that need no introduction.
But it wasn't just music. It was a journey into the films. Scenes flowed in the background, and they played. Every note was tailored to the image. And I was there, very close to the instruments, to the musicians' breathing, to the vibration of the flute (which blew me away).
It was wonderful to relive scenes from famous films that are no longer shown, to be able to dust off the most beautiful scenes with great interpreters who made cinema history. It was like watching a film, but with your soul wide open.
And C’era una volta il West... gave me chills. An unforgettable soundtrack heard live...
I discovered myself curious, surprised, happy to have dared. Because yes, I am someone who loves to try (even though I had some prejudice about classical music). This time it literally swept me away.
