Morbegno Alps' Festival: a community that looks up

Wed, 17/12/2025 - news

The second edition of Morbegno Alps’ Festival has concluded with great participation and many positive responses, animating the center of Morbegno with meetings, cultural events, and moments of celebration, confirming itself as an event capable of uniting the mountains, people, and the future.

The event managed to engage various types of audiences, including students, families, enthusiasts, and local operators, offering opportunities for in-depth exploration of alpine culture, the environment, and mountaineering, as well as moments of social interaction in the heart of the city. Particularly appreciated were the meetings with the protagonists of the mountains, from the evening dedicated to Renato Casarotto to the one dedicated to the Alpini, not to mention the central evenings dedicated to the Guides of the Orobie Valtellinesi Park and life in the mountain pastures with the screening of the docufilm I cento giorni.

There was also an excellent response for the guided tours of the historical center, curated by students of the Saraceno Institute, and for the Cinema Sferico “La notte polare” at the Civic Museum of Natural History, which was fully booked for all four days.

The Festival also offered moments of celebration and tradition, such as the opening parade with the Olympic mascots Milo and Tina, accompanied by folk groups from Livigno and Gerola, the Bandella, and the local sports clubs. Additionally, there was the parade of the 5th Alpine Regiment along with the Fanfare, which involved citizens and visitors and concluded the weekend's activities.

“We are extremely satisfied with this edition of the Morbegno Alps’ Festival,” said Anna Gusmeroli, Deputy Mayor of Morbegno. “The collaboration with associations, local realities, and the community has been extraordinary: the audience participated in large numbers and with great enthusiasm in all the planned initiatives. A heartfelt thanks goes to the speakers, guests, volunteers, schools, partners, and sponsors, including the Lombardy Region, which was the main sponsor thanks to the Lombardia Style call, and to all those who worked behind the scenes with passion and commitment. A special thanks goes to the audience, the true protagonist of the Festival, who with their presence gave meaning and strength to every proposal.”

Morbegno Alps’ Festival, in its first true edition after the test run in 2024, thus confirms itself not only as an event but as a cultural project capable of placing the value of the mountains at its center. A space of opportunities, work, identity, and vision for the future, especially for the new generations.

The gaze remains aimed high, with roots firmly planted in the territory, amid exhibitions, culture, and tradition. Among these, the exhibitions “Neve e identità: il secolo bianco della Valtellina” will remain open until December 28, and “0° a 5000 m” until January 6, curated by Loredana Senna and Beba Stoppani, respectively.

Morbegno Alps’ Festival is an event organized by the Municipality of Morbegno, in collaboration with local and provincial partners, with resources from the Lombardy Region, and with the support of the main sponsor Crédit Agricole.
