Morbegno in Cantina takes the city, full success for the second weekend.

On a sunny weekend, Morbegno in Cantina – with 4,600 tickets sold and a festive atmosphere enveloping the city – confirms itself as an attractive event capable of capturing the interest of thousands of people and achieving great satisfaction. This is evidenced by the comments collected and the reports received from the Consorzio Turistico Porte di Valtellina, to which the Comune di Morbegno entrusted the organization.

The composite offering of tradition, history, culture, food and wine, and entertainment, built around the wines narrated by the sommeliers AIS and ONAV, meets the requests of the participants, largely coming from outside the province. In addition to the careful selection of wines – from the robust Valtellina Superiore and Sforzato to niche proposals, including whites, rosés, and bubbles – deserving of special mention are Palazzo Malacrida, the elegant setting for tastings, and the musical accompaniment of the local bands that played in the streets and squares of the center.

“The traffic and railway uncertainties of last week did not limit the important influx, surpassing expectations: it was a true success,” says Mayor Patrizio Del Nero. “Impeccable organization, festive and positive moments characterized the two days. The excellence of our wines, tasted in the historic cellars of the city, represents an unprecedented attraction. The associations, volunteers, law enforcement, and the organization were truly commendable, together with the collaboration of commercial establishments. See you next Saturday and Sunday for a closing weekend of the 2025 edition.”

In the Renaissance residence symbol of Morbegno, Palazzo Malacrida, it was hard not to be struck by the atmosphere of bygone times that filled the frescoed rooms, the cellar, and the garden, thanks to the presence of guides – who narrated its history – and the music of Giulia Barbera and Pietro Ciapponi, teachers from the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Monteverdi in Morbegno. Violin, electric violin, and keyboard presented pieces from the classical repertoire of Mozart and Beethoven up to contemporary times, featuring hits by Ed Sheeran and Adele.

Palazzo Malacrida was enhanced by the new feature “Peccato a Palazzo”, the concluding stage of the Giro Oro ’26, also accessible to those choosing one of the other three itineraries. Many participants took advantage of this, starting with those who purchased the pass for the Giro Rosso and the Giro Bolle, which were sold out on Saturday. The music – never so engaging – saw the presence of about ten local bands, with the Welsh Alffa performing in the Cantina Municipio managed by Locazione, the association that organizes Morborock every year.

The city was made even more beautiful and welcoming thanks to the creativity of the merchants who, coordinated by the Associazione Mandamentale di Morbegno of the Unione Commercio Turismo e Servizi della Provincia di Sondrio, set up themed windows.

“Morbegno has once again demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for hospitality,” comments the director of the Consorzio Turistico Camillo Bertolini. “Thousands of young people filled the cellars and streets of the historic center, welcomed with enthusiasm by the associations present in the cellars and by the entire city. An authentic encounter between generations, where Valtellina told its story through its wines, its food products, and its traditions. Now we prepare for the next and last weekend to experience the grand finale of Morbegno in Cantina together.”
