ANCIENT TRADES UL MAGNAN O PARULEER: TINNER

He repaired pots, lids, or any other container made of copper, iron, or aluminum.

Furthermore, he tinned culdéeri, conchi, and secchi sédèei.

Once he finished his work, he personally returned all the objects.

Tools: a container with a spout and a long handle, used to melt the tin; hammer; tongs; bellows mantés.

Materials: rebatii tin and copper sheets.
Usually, the magnan announced himself at a high volume:

A particularly mischievous gentleman, when he arrived in the village, would shout:

The miller has arrived with the bag in hand, with the bellows attached to his backside, the miller is always him.

A particular event concerning him:
There was a wealthy lady who, whenever the miller came to town, her trusted “magnan” would bring him various copper pots to polish.

One fine day, curious about “his technique” (she considered him the best), she wanted to know what product he used to make the containers shiny:
.
I use cow dung.
That was not a "thrown out" answer to "make fun" of the woman; the dung is indeed an excellent natural polishing agent.

Subsequently, she no longer brought him anything to polish.

culdéeri: a large container that, placed on the fire, was used to heat milk to obtain cheese.

conchi: a container where milk was put to obtain cream.
mantés: a bellows for feeding the fire, also called lümaaga or sbrufii.
rebatii: special copper nails that were tightened at both ends by pliers.

A kind contribution from Mariella of UILDM Sondrio: memories collected from her parents
