It was not an obligation but a choice. Not a competition, but passion, which this year saw the first “night race” realized in Valmalenco on August 2nd as part of the Enjoy Stelvio project. “The stopwatch doesn’t matter – explains the Director of the Sondrio and Valmalenco Tourism Consortium Roberto Pinna, one of the co-organizers of the event along with the Municipality of Lanzada – “there is no starting or finishing order: it is an event that only aims to get on your bike and have fun.”
This evening, included in the Enjoy Stelvio project, responds to the growing desire for biking, which has been on the rise in recent years in Valmalenco, and offers a non-competitive and engaging atmosphere for all those who love this discipline.
Athletes, simple enthusiasts, and tourists present in the valley during these days of vacation - commented the Mayor Marco Negrini of the Municipality of Lanzada - who are driven by a passion that never sleeps, were the main actors of the evening. The magic of the route illuminated only by the lights of the cyclists, and the unusual timing, made the “athletic effort” surprising for the over 200 “Bikers” who set off from Pradasc towards Campo Moro.
Upon arrival, there was a festive moment that involved all participants and beyond, a true “living room” where opinions could be exchanged on the most exciting phases of the route, and naturally, refreshments with tasty Valtellinese products.
This initiative Enjoy Stelvio Valtellina is part of the Promotion Project for Cycling Tourism 2025 of the Province of Sondrio. The day was a unique experience for all fans of the summer season’s “clou” events in Valmalenco.
