Miniera della Bagnada – A Journey into the White Heart of Valmalenco

In the heart of Valmalenco, in Lanzada, lies the Miniera della Bagnada, a talc mining site active from 1936 to 1987. The mine, now transformed into an Ecomuseum, offers a unique experience to discover the history of talc extraction and the evolution of mining techniques over time.

🏗️ Architecture and Structure of the Mine

The Miniera della Bagnada extends across nine levels, four of which are accessible to visitors. During the guided tour, it is possible to explore different types of tunnels: mined veins, service tunnels, descents, and walkways. Highlights include the "Riservetta," used for storing explosives, and the "Camerone," a large space that now hosts events thanks to its unique acoustics

🧭 The Museum Pathway

The Ecomuseum of Bagnada is divided into three main sections:

  • Guided tour of the galleries: an immersion into the depths of the mountain to understand the working conditions of miners.
  • Mining Museum: exhibition of original tools and informational panels illustrating extraction techniques and the daily life of miners.
