A cycling legend between Valtellina and Valcamonica
The Passo del Mortirolo (also known as Passo della Foppa) is one of the most famous alpine passes in Italy, located at an altitude of 1,852 meters between Valtellina and Val Camonica.
Natural watershed between the Adda River and the Oglio, Mortirolo offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and the great mountain ranges of Adamello, Ortles, and Bernina, with peaks that touch 3,000 meters.
🌲 An unspoiled natural environment
Mortirolo opens up to a wide basin of meadows, forests, and alpine lakes, ideal for summer hikes, scenic trips, and stays dedicated to relaxation.
- 📍 Vast pastures and lush forests
- 📍 Typical hotels and restaurants offering mountain cuisine
- 📍 Scenic routes perfect for families
From the pass, secondary roads branch off, such as the one leading to the locality of Guspessa and, continuing on, to Trivigno, Pian di Gembro, and the Passo dell'Aprica, following the path of a military road built during World War I.
🚴♂️ The climb of the Giro d'Italia

Entering the legend of the Giro d'Italia since 1990, Mortirolo has become iconic especially thanks to the feats of Marco Pantani, who in 1994 wrote one of the most exciting pages in cycling history here.
