Realists, idealists, Swiss symbolists. Paintings from the collector Bruno Stefanini
The temporary exhibition brings together about twenty masterpieces from the collection of art collector Bruno Stefanini (1924–2018) from Winterthur, now preserved by the Foundation for Art, Culture, and History (SKKG), which he established in 1980.
Son of an Italian immigrant and a Swiss citizen, Stefanini built a remarkable fortune as a construction and real estate entrepreneur, investing — starting from the 1970s — a significant part of his resources in creating one of the most important art collections in Switzerland, born out of passion, rigor, and a sense of patriotism.
The exhibition, curated by Gian Casper Bott and coordinated by Moreno Raselli, will be accompanied by a rich program of collateral events dedicated to the figure of Bruno Stefanini. Among these are the presentation of his diaries, published in 2024, featuring the participation of Vincenzo Todisco, and the screening of the documentary Die Hinterlassenschaft des Bruno Stefanini (The Legacy of Bruno Stefanini, 2025), with the presence of director Thomas Haemmerli, who will share his reflections on the collector.
