On Sunday, May 25, the new season of Enjoy Stelvio Valtellina 2025 officially opens, an initiative that involves closing some panoramic roads in the province of Sondrio to motor traffic, reserving them for cyclists and hikers.
The first stage will take place in Valmalenco, along the ascent from the Pradasc area (Lanzada) to Campo Moro. The road will be closed to motor vehicles in two time slots: from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The second appointment is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, with the closure of Passo San Marco on both sides: from Albaredo per San Marco (SO) and from Mezzoldo (BG), always from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
These initiatives are part of a week dedicated to great cycling in Valtellina, which will host two stages of the Giro d’Italia: on May 28 with the arrival of the 18th stage in Bormio and on May 29 with the departure of the 19th stage from Morbegno.
Campo Moro: events and services for the whole family
In addition to the show offered by the suggestive galleries and alpine panoramas, numerous activities and services for adults and children will be available at Campo Moro.
In the Pradasc area, it will be possible to rent e-bikes at a special rate (reservation recommended at the Sondrio and Valmalenco Tourist Consortium). The little ones can have fun with the “Bike Experience,” a route assisted by instructors from the Bike Bernina school. For those who wish to cycle in a group, two guided departures are planned at 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM.
Upon arrival, near the Poschiavino and Zoia refuges, participants will find a luggage transport service, guarded parking for bicycles, and refreshing showers. It will also be possible to have lunch at the two facilities at discounted rates (reservation recommended).
“Reintroducing this initiative is a concrete opportunity to promote our territory by enhancing sustainable mobility and improving quality of life,” declared Marco Negrini, mayor of Lanzada. “With the bicycle, we can rediscover and rethink familiar places in a new light. Lanzada wants to invest more and more in eco-friendly and sustainable tourism, with particular attention to the new generations.”
The initiative is free, non-competitive, and does not require registration. The complete calendar of road closures is available at:
