Musical event draws near at the Basilica in Tirano

Preparations are in full swing for the 17th edition of the “CONCERTO DELL’APPARIZIONE”, to be held in the Basilica of the Madonna of Tirano on Friday 2 OCTOBER, marking the closing celebrations for the 522 years since the apparition in Tirano and the 80 years since the Madonna was proclaimed “Celeste Patrona della Valtellina e dei Valtellinesi”.

The evening, promoted by the Bernina Choir from the province of Sondrio, this year has drawn in a large number of supporters who have shown a great deal of care for the musical event widely regarded as the most important of the year. And for the first time, among the supporters are almost all the businesses based around Piazza Basilica. The organisation, now in its thirtieth year, is run by Pietro Maletti, a journalist and cultural operator from Tirano.

The programme features music from the 16th to the 19th centuries for Brass, Organ and – for the very first time in the Tirano Sanctuary – the Corno delle Alpi played by someone from Brusio.
